How to make a dome in Minecraft (Layer by Layer)
- Build the full-diameter circular base at ground level.
- Mark its exact center coordinate and erect a vertical reference pillar.
- Select Layer 2 in the calculator and place the ring one block above the base.
- Continue upward, centering every shrinking ring around your vertical pillar.
- Remove temporary center markers after sealing the topmost cap block.
Hollow dome roofs and glass biodomes
Use Outline mode for a one-block shell. Each chart shows the exposed ring for that vertical Y-level. This is the optimal setting for glass biodomes, planetariums, observatory roofs, and cathedral ceilings where you need open interior air space.
Filled domes and terrain mounds
Filled mode returns the complete horizontal disk at each height level. It is ideal when the dome represents a hill, hobbit mound, underground bunker cap, or solid mountain sculpting.
Minecraft dome calculator & sizing
The generated dome follows true hemisphere geometry, meaning its total height equals its radius (half the diameter). For a complete 3D ball, switch to the Minecraft sphere generator, or create the circular foundation using the Minecraft circle generator.
