Tools for Drawing Circles

A compass is the standard instrument for drawing a circle on paper. Beam compasses handle large radii, templates repeat standard sizes, and pixel circle generators translate curves onto block grids.

Compass: the standard math instrument

A drawing compass has a center point and pencil separated by an adjustable radius. Hold the pivot still and rotate the pencil. The finished diameter is twice the distance between the points.

Drawing large circles

A beam compass moves the pencil and pivot along a rigid bar. For temporary floor layouts, taut string tied to a fixed center can serve the same purpose.

Why a pixel circle needs a generator

A physical compass draws a continuous curve, but Minecraft only provides square positions. A pixel circle generator selects the squares that best approximate the curve and presents them as countable runs.
